21st Century Penpals

img_5015Anne and Elizabeth met six years ago in the Midwest — home to Anne, an adventure for Liz — when Elizabeth was investigating the counseling psychology graduate program where Anne was already a student.  Originally scheduled to stay with another student, Anne was suckered into hosting this prospective student from Seattle at the last minute, when fate intervened.  In a 48 hour period, their mutual love of cooking (and eating), travel, independent films, American Idol, Broadway musicals, literature, and writing quickly emerged, ensuring that they would become fast friends.

After going their separate ways four years ago, their friendship has endured three cross-country moves and progressed without a single phone call, two visits, a few emails, and countless hand-written letters.  After maintaining an old-fashioned correspondence, a perfect medium for two gals who have lived much of their lives burrowed between the pages of books, they decided to step together into the 21st century.  What better project for two women, two aspiring writers, than to blog together?  They’ll still write letters, to be sure, but they’ll add the blogsphere as another mode of connecting and maintaining their uniquely literary friendship.  And they hope you’ll enjoy the ride, too!
